Sea Turtle Girl
From Mermay 2023. Every May, I choose an animal endemic to Mexico and an Indigenous group associated with their habitat. I want to talk more about this one since I believe it's my best illustration yet.

The Kemp's Ridley Sea Turtle is the smallest of the Sea Turtle species. Only found in the Gulf of Mexico, it's one of the most critically endangered of the species.
The girl is a Pre-Colonial Huastec Women whose tattoos and hair wrap are based off Post-Classic Huastec effigies. Today, the Huastec People live along the west side of the Gulf of Mexico in states like Hidalgo and Veracruz.
